An Evolving Gallery

Since we first opened the doors of The Plaid Moose Gallery online - we have shared 16 Canadian artists with our Gallery supporters and celebrated countless others.

The Gallery started with one artist - the founder and creator Linda French.  Initially one new artist was added per month, then we doubled that, and in some months tripled that.  Concerned that the growth was happening too fast - we slowed this down.  We also tried theme months where the artists participated with new art linked to a theme.

The Gallery has offered artwork for sale from: Linda French, Ruth Johnson, Calico Moon Pottery (Andrea Robinson), Lorena Mibelli, Trina Kuzik, Jocelyn Shields, By_Drea (Andrea and Elyssa Rist), Karin Irrgang, Marlene Loewen, Anna Hill, Jenn Lecour, Carly Alexandra, Isabel Ostrom, Heather MacPherson, Brad Lynch, and Raquel Roth.

We have also engaged our artists and others with four fundraising campaigns. We raised funds to support local arts, the efforts in the Ukraine, and to support Calgarians living in affordable housing.  We sold specific pieces for these purposes, or artists agreed to a percentage to be donated.  All for the artists showed such amazing generosity.

We have held pop up art shows in funky locations like a back lane warehouse space, back of a store (to support a local small business), and a golf course dining room, We held online sales and participated in a market booth.

We experimented with online sales.  We placed all the art on sale or just had select art at a discount.

We have partnered with local art organizations like White Box Studio, Kensington Art Supply & Instruction and West Coast Canvas.

Recently many of our artists participated in our Art Exhibition and Reception to celebrate the artists of the Art is the Heart of a Home project. You can read more about this on our AHH Project page.

We have shared pottery, knitting, weaving, greeting cards, t-shirts, prints, calendars, Christmas ornaments, and original paintings!

The Gallery is evolving... watch for more information... but if you have you eye on anything in the gallery by our amazing artists you might want to purchase it before the start of November.
